DM9601

Postby the_imposter » Thu Feb 18, 2010 2:44 pm

Hi!

I found this website thanks to your reply on

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 030AAOK4RR

I have the identical problem, except even after I follow those instructions (and restart my PC), when plugging the device into my usb slot windows still doesn't recognise the device and tries to find the drivers for it (with no success of course).

I bought the device from eBay, and the seller send a CD with drivers on it, however they're different to the ones you recommened (different size, and included with it 'DM9USB.CAT'. is this needed?). I've tried 'installing' those too but also to no avail, and I'm at a loss as to what to do.

I really hope you can help : sorry:

Welcome to the board, the_imposter :-D

What operating system are you currently running? It looks like the DM9601 (now listed as obsolete on Davicom's website) is compatible with ME, 2000, XP, CE & Linux. All available drivers for the DM9601 are here for download.

If you're running a version of Windows Vista or 7, you may need to purchase a new NIC. You can find many cheap, compatible ones here. It's always possible that the one you received is defective as well. What eBay seller did you purchase from?

I'm running XP SP2. I managed to get it to work in the end but I had to let windows automatically search for the drivers online, 'installing' the ones from your links, and the CD I got with it, didn't work

Glad you got it working. Can't really say why the drivers didn't work in your case and they worked for the other guy... There were straight from the manufacturer's website, so they should have

On a side note, you do know that SP3 for XP has been out for quite a while? I recommend installing it as it contains important fixes. You can grab the full install from here.
